FRESNO >> Three members of the Punishers Wrestling Club of Lower Lake came away with state titles from the California USA Wrestling Kids Freestyle and Cadet/Junior Greco State Championships last weekend at Selland Arena in Fresno where more than 1,200 wrestlers were in action.

Winning state championships were Blake Fredrickson in the 106-pound junior division, Alexis Peregrina in the girls 80-85 intermediate division, and Austin Fredrickson in the schoolboy 70-pound divisions.

Blake Fredrickson won all three of his matches by either technical fall or pin while collecting the eighth state championship of his Punishers career. He will advance to the Fargo Nationals next month in North Dakota.

Peregrina went 2-0, including a victory over Asha Wolford of Arcata in the finals. She is currently in Japan taking part in a wrestling and cultural exchange program.

Austin Fredrickson went 2-0, beating Jeremy Lee Oani of Marvel Wrestling in the finals.

Second-place medals went to Adam Viramontes in the 105-pound novice division and to Jonathan Fredrickson in the 77-pound schoolboy division, where he fell 4-3 to Grigor Cholakyan of the International Sports Union in the finals.

Carter Rudolph came away with a third-place medal in the 103-pound intermediate division, going 3-1. He pinned Brandon Arana of Beat the Streets Tiger Wrestling in the third-place match.

Winning a fifth-place medal was Mario Cuellar in the 91-pound schoolboy division, where he posted a 5-2 record. After losing 10-0 in the quarterfinals, he battled his way back through the consolation bracket before losing against in the consolation semifinals. He beat Eric Argumedo of Palomino 17-5 in the fifth-place match.

Myles Conatser finished sixth in the 75-pound intermediate division and Aiden Dancer was seventh in the 65-pound intermediate division. Tristan Day added an eighth-place finish in the 120-pound cadet division.

Just missing medals were Quentin Vilmenay, Hayden Fowler and Travis and Taylor Boyles.

The tournament was the season finale for the Punishers, who have racked up 21 state titles and counting. They will hold their annual awards barbecue July 1 where the highlights of their eight-month-long season will be reviewed.
