LAKEPORT >> The annual Home Wine and Beer Makers’ Festival, sponsored as a fund-raiser by the Lake County Symphony Association, will get support this year from one of the area’s leading pop music bands. Johnnie Tsunami and his group The Hurricanes — recent headliners at the Soper-Reese Theatre — will entertain attendees at the Winefest taking place Saturday, June 17 from noon to 5 p.m. at Lakeport’s Library Park.
The band also features popular local keyboardist Tom Aiken, as well as Tall Paul Dowling and Steve Dubois, all well-known to Lake County music lovers. They will provide a musical backdrop to the dozens of amateur and professional wine and beer makers who will be pouring samples of their adult beverages during the event, as well as the many vendors offering their products for sale.
They will also be joined by more than four dozen members of the Norcal Aircooled Group of vintage car collectors showing off their antique autos.
The fee to those 21 or older wishing to taste many of Lake County’s finest wines and malt beverages is $25 per person at the gate, or $20 advance purchase which can be made at the Lake County Chamber of Commerce or at most commercial winery tasting rooms. There is no fee for those visiting the vendors or touring the collectible cars, and children and leashed pets are welcome.
