Rob Brown to address Republican Women

Lake County Republican Women, Federated (LCRWF) will hold their June 14, 11:30 a.m. luncheon meeting at Howard’s Grotto, Clearlake. The featured speaker will be District 5 Supervisor Rob Brown discussing Lake County Moving Forward, a very fitting topic for our time.

As a third generation resident of Lake County, Supervisor Brown has great knowledge of past events in Lake County, in what some may call turbulent times. His life has always been focused on the community, serving it in many ways and helping the community, but always believing in limited government. His business experience as a bail bondsman, a member of the school board and in agriculture, all focus on community. Recently, he worked tirelessly during the fires in his district.

In a January 2016 interview with Davr Faries, editor of Lake County Record-Bee, Brown stated,”But the hand we have been dealt we need to play wisely.” As a coach in many capacities since 1979, parents can be thankful this is the great philosophy he instill in their children.

Members and guests can look forward to learning what is really happening in Lake County and what the future may hold for this beautiful area and perhaps what individuals can do to help the prosperity of our county.

Attendees should arrive early for the June 14 luncheon meeting at Howard’s Grotto, 14732 Lakeshore Drive, Clearlake, as call to order is at 11:30 a.m., followed by specific agenda, lunch and featured speaker.

All Republicans, men and women, are welcome at LCRWF meetings whether to hear a specific speaker or an interest in becoming a member. Men may join as associate members.

LCRWF is a well established organization. It is a local chapter of California Republican Women Federated established in 1925, and also retains membership in National Federation of Republican Women with headquarters in Alexandria, Virgiinia. There are more than 1,600 local clubs in the 50 states and in the U.S. Territories. Putting it simply, all Republican Women Federated members work for a Better American.

Lt. Governor candidate to address meeting

Our Revolution Lake County/Progressive Democrats of America hold their joint monthly meeting on Thursday, June 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Kelseyville Senior Center in Kelseyville.

The progressive group meets third Thursdays each month. Meetings are free and open to the public. Progressives of all parties (or no party) are welcome to attend.

This month’s special guest is Gayle McLaughlin, former mayor of Richmond and currently a candidate for Lt. Governor of California.

McLaughlin, called the “Bernie Sanders of the East Bay,” pledges to not accept corporate donations and to represent the interests of working people. “Corporate money is both toxic and addictive. Our democracy needs to get clean and sober,” says McLaughlin.

McLaughlin was a Green Party member who was twice elected Mayor of Richmond, California. She is a founder of the Richmond Progressive Alliance and was elected to City Council before running for Mayor against an incumbant establishment-democrat and a Chevron-controlled city council. After being termed-out as Mayor, she ran for City Council again with the progressive slate “Team Richmond” which defeated a $3 million opposition campaign funded by Chevron.

In 2016 the Richmond Progressive Alliance won two additional seats on the City Council for a supermajority of five corporate-free progressives out of seven councilmembers.

On June 15 she will share her story and lessons-learned with the Lake County progressive group, and answer questions about how progressive actions have transformed the city of Richmond under her leadership.

Kelseyville Senior Center is located at 5245 3rd St, Kelseyville, CA 95451. Meeting begins at 6:30pm.

Inquiries may be directed to Lake County Progressives co-chair Deb Baumann at 275-9234 or via email info@ruralvalues.org
