Upper Lake quarterback Ray Moran lets one fly during a voluntary spring football workout Wednesday evening at the high school football field. Moran moves into the starting quarterback position for the varsity Cougars in 2017. Upper Lake is scheduled to open the season Aug. 25 at Los Molinos. The Cougars’ home and North Central League III opener is Sept. 15 under the lights against defending NCL III champion Rincon Valley Christian.
