UPDATED:

A crisis text line that will allow students to text for free, confidential help has been established for students of California’s 113 community colleges.

To receive text-based support from trained counselors, students may text COURAGE to 741741. The support is confidential and accessible 24 hours a day from Crisis Text Line, a national organization that has more than 3,000 trained crisis counselors.

The text line adds to other services, focusing on prevention and early intervention in addressing mental health needs, available to community college students.

The service is offered through a collaboration between the Crisis Text Line, the California Community College Chancellor’s Office and the Foundation for California Community Colleges.
