A firefighter awaits instructions on Thursday after a brush fire ignited in Clearlake between the Ray’s Food Place and Dam Road. Crews from the Lake County Fire Protection District and Cal Fire blunted progress after a short time and were able to extinguish the blaze. They were joined by one air tanker and a helicopter. Cal Fire also brought a bulldozer to the scene. Early estimates indicated less than 5 acres were scorched. – Bob Minenna
