LUCERNE >> Deputies arrested a Lucerne woman for allegedly tasing two people in Alpine Park on Wednesday evening.
Kathleen Dail, 51, is being held in the Lake County Jail with bail set at $15,000.
When deputies from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene at approximately 8 p.m., they found several people detaining Dail.
Two female victims told deputies that Dail had used a taser on them. Several people in the park, including those holding the suspect, reported witnessing the attack. Deputies also noted faint markings on one victims neck they believed were consistent with a taser strike.
According to LCSO Sgt. Corey Paulich, some of those who reported seeing the two being tased rushed to the victim’s defense. They grabbed hold of Dail and took the device.
“Dail then made threats that she would have someone kill the witnesses,” Paulich said in a prepared statement.
When deputies questioned Dail, she told deputies a group of “unknown people” had called her down to Alpine Park. She contended that the group threatened her. In response, Dail allegedly informed them that she would defend herself if they persisted.
At that point, she explained that she activated the device and accidently hit the victims.
“She told deputies that the victims had willingly walked into the taser while she was activating it,” Paulich said in the statement.
Based upon the statements, deputies decided to take Dail into custody. She faces charges of assault with a stun gun or taser and threatening crime with intent to terrorize.
