CLEARLAKE >> The Clearlake Youth Wildlife Art Project got underway as eager art students showed up early Monday morning at Woodland College, Clearlake campus, to begin the process of making the murals that will enrich the Clearlake community.

Stephanie Figueroa and her crew of artists from the Art House Gallery were present to supervise, and offer direction and input to the student artists. The first order of the day, however, was to prepare the room. Tarps were taped to the floor and the walls were covered to protect them from paint.

This student art workshop will run from June 19 to July 27.

Students will meet from 9 a.m. to 2p.m. Monday through Thursday. The daily schedule will include a first-hour dedicated to art lessons on topics such as mixing colors, composition, and highlighting. Students will also create a 1’ x 1’ sample of their composition before they transition to their final 4’ x 4’ product. .

Samples of student work can be seen on Facebook at www.facebook.com/clearlakeyouthartproject.

Sponsors can also place special orders for a mural depicting a creature of their choice. The cost of sponsoring an art mural is approximately $200. Call Stephanie Figueroa at 295-1030 to be a sponsor or to make a donation.
