LUCERNE >> At around 11 p.m. Lake County Sheriff’s Department received a call about a semi-truck that caused a power outage in Lucerne on Thursday night.
The driver, identified as Singh Sukhjinder, 29, was driving a 2015 Kenworth heading westbound on State Route 20, east of Seventh Avenue. The speed at which he was driving is still unknown. The driver lost control of the trailer as he attempted to make a left curve on the roadway.
Failing to make a proper turn, the trailer flipped on its right side and collided onto two utility poles entirely. One of the poles fell at its bae, which caused the power outage in the town. A nearby home was almost struck by the accident.
According to the collision report, the truck continued to slide in a northwesterly direction and hit several trees and wire fences before coming to a complete stop near Sixth Avenue.
Due to the severity of the accident, State Route 20 was closed thereafter for over one hour.
Traffic was directed to continue onto Country Club Drive up until Caltrans controlled the situation on the road.
Sukhjinder sustained no injuries. Alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the collision, according to authorities.
