MIDDLETOWN >> The public is invited to join MAC artists Nick Hay and Laura Kennedy for the first class in the Resilience Drawing and Printmaking workshops series. This session will focus on collagraphs — images created by assembling a variety of textures, shapes and color on a surface and run through the print press. The class will consist of about 1.5 hours of drawing, which will inform the 3 plus- hour printmaking portion of the class. Personnel asks the public to bring a snack or lunch, and any interesting flat textures you wish to experiment with.
Resilience classes cost just $5 and are open to adults of all ages and teens ages 12 up.
All levels of experience, novice to professional, are encouraged to attend one or many classes! Resilience consists of classes in four art disciplines: Photography, Poetry/Written Word, Painting and Drawing/Printmaking. Classes are generally held on Saturdays with exceptions for holidays. Next classes will be Poetry/Written Word on July 8 and Photography on July 9 (usually the first Saturday). Please visit www.middletownartcenter.org/resilience for scheduling and to preregister, space is limited.
The public is invited to participate, in a year-long project that includes Spoken Word performances, guided nature walks and other community events culminating in county-wide exhibits, and a printed chapbook of writings and images. Classes will cycle through the 1st through 4th Saturday of the month until May 2018. All classes begin at 12 p.m. and end at 5 p.m. to correspond with Lake County Transit busses. MAC can help with bus passes and subsidize the cost of classes if needed. Resilience is funded through a Local Impact grant from the California Arts Council, with additional local organizations support.
