Clear Lake State Park

On Saturday, July 1 at 9 a.m. State Park Volunteer, Chuck Sturges, will lead a walk on the Indian Nature Trail. Chuck will point out the flora and fauna along the trail and discuss how the local Native Americans used the native vegetation in their everyday lives.

The trail is about one half mile long and has a moderately strenuous grade. The walk will start at 9 a.m. at the entrance station to the park and will last about 30 minutes to an hour.

All participants should dress appropriately for the summer mornings and wear sturdy shoes and bring sunscreen, mosquito repellent, binoculars, and water. Rain will cancel the walk.

Clear Lake State Park Volunteers will lead nature walks on the first and third Saturdays during the summer.

Clear Lake State Park is located at 5300 Soda Bay Road, Kelseyville, CA and entry into the park is free for those attending the walk.

Anyone having special needs should contact the Clear Lake State Park Sector Office Tuesday through Thursday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 707-279-2267.

Anderson Marsh State Historic Park

Anderson Marsh State Historic Park continues to hold monthly guided nature walks. The first guided walk of summer is scheduled for Saturday, July 8. Participants are asked to meet in the parking lot at 8:15 a.m. to have time to experience the early morning wildlife to be found in the Ranch House and Barn complex yard. The walk begins at 8:30 a.m.

Led by California Naturalists and Park Docents Gae Henry and Henry Bornstein, this walk will cover the Cache Creek Nature Trail. Along with a general history and description of the Park, attendees will have an opportunity to view the birds, dragonflies, butterflies and other wildlife and wildflowers that can be found in the Park this time of year. The walk should take between 1.5 to 2 hours. There is no fee for those attending. There will be no guided tour of the Ranch House after the July walk.
