LAKEPORT >> Lake County residents can celebrate Independence Day on both Saturday and Sunday thanks to fireworks shows being staged at both the Lakeport and Ukiah speedways.
The fireworks shows are made possible thanks to the contributions of Kelseyville Lumber, Lake County Tribal Health, Friedman’s Home Improvement and Mendo Lake Credit Union, with support from Furia Construction, Max 93.5 FM, 94.5 Kwine, and Bicoastal Media.
The action begins Saturday in Lakeport with the annual Kelseyville Lumber Deake Lyndall Memorial Race and shifts to Ukiah on Sunday when sprint cars join the Pro-4 Modifieds, bandoleros, Legends, Taco Bell bombers and Jammers on the racing card. Gates open both days at 3:30 p.m. and the racing begins at 5 p.m.
Race promoter David Furia is responsible for bringing fireworks shows to both speedways. This is the sixth straight year the Ukiah track has hosted fireworks.
“The show is an incredible in-your-face display of fireworks and pyrotechnics,” Furia said of the shows in store for racing fans at both tracks. “The style of fireworks that will be presented will astound and amaze every person in the grandstands. This will be the fireworks show that will make people wish they had been there. The crew puts on a great show and we have never been disappointed.”
Tickets for Saturday’s show in Lakeport and Sunday’s show in Ukiah are $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens and students, and $8 for children ages 6-11. Children 5 and younger are free. While there is a $5 fee for parking in the Ukiah Fairgrounds parking lot, the parking stub is redeemable at the ticket gate for $5 off one gate entry for the race and fireworks show.
