SANTA ROSA >> Matt Huffman of Clearlake was awarded dual Juris Doctor and Master of Legal Studies degrees from Empire College School of Law in Santa Rosa on June 4.
Prior to attending law school, Huffman earned an A.A. degree from Santa Rosa Junior College and a B.S. in Construction Management from California State University, Chico. Following a career in construction management, Huffman redirected his career path and has been working in the legal field for almost three years, first with Legal Aid of Sonoma County and then with criminal defense attorneys in Lake County.
Primarily, Huffman has worked as a certified law student under the mentorship of attorney Barry Melton in advocating for clients in a diverse, mostly felony practice.
The son of Mark Huffman of Clearlake and Mary Massingic of Lower Lake, Mr. Huffman is an alumnus of Lower Lake High School.
Empire College School of Law, founded in 1973, is accredited by the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California and offers evening Juris Doctor and Master of Legal Studies programs. Its alumni currently comprise approximately 25 percent of the Sonoma County Bar and include members of the judiciary in Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, Lassen, Merced, and Calaveras Counties.
