Lighthouse to the world

Galilee Lutheran Church

Outdoor worship service at 9 am

Lay leaders Craig Waters and Carl Ingvoldstad

“O God, you direct our lives by your grace, and your words of justice and mercy reshape the world. Mold us into a people who welcome your word and serve one another, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.”

This is the prayer of the day for this Sunday, July 2, and is certainly appropriate as we strive to maintain our nation’s place as a “lighthouse to the world.” Living in grace, doing justice, loving mercy and serving each other … this is our mandate. How often we fall short! How often we exclude people who don’t look like us, talk like us, act like us, or believe like us! But the Bible says, over and over again, that grace and mercy aren’t only for “us.” They are for all … the widows and children, foreigners and sojourners, oppressed and depressed, healthy and ill — all of us.

This weekend, we give thanks for our freedom and independence, but also pray that we can live up to a higher standard as a nation. A lighthouse is useless if the bulb is burned out. So if you feel burned out, burdened, and stressed by politics, life and just plain survival, we invite you to join us!

Galilee Lutheran is located at 8860 Soda Bay Road in the Kelseyville Rivieras.

We meet this week, and for the remainder of the summer, outdoors at 9 a.m. That’s a time change … 9 a.m.

Here to help

Clear Lake Baptist Church

Pastor Ray Smith

Some people want help. Some people do not. Some people need help but don’t know it. Some people need help but don’t know how to ask. Some of you may be in one of those situations.

We are here to help. The Church is not a lone ranger endeavor. The church is the body of Christ. Every believer is part of the body of Christ and is connected to another. We are not designed to go the Christian life alone. You will not develop and grow if you are separated from other believers.

I heard an illustration about how that charcoal if it is separated from other coals will grow cold and go out. It does best when it is near other charcoal it will grow hot. The same with the Christian. Those that go it alone will grow cold and their effectiveness will wane. Those who are connected into the church will grow and develop and mature.

If you are not worshipping anywhere, join us this Sunday at 10:45 a.m. to learn more. If you want to learn about Jesus, our church is the place to learn about Him. Come Sunday evening to learn how to share your faith in Jesus with others. We also have Bible studies for all ages at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday. On Wednesday, we have a prayer meeting and Bible study.

Listen to sermons online (but there is no substitute for live interaction and engagement.) Check our website for more information, www.clearlakebaptistchurch.org.
