Libraries closed

All branches of the Lake County Library system will be closed July 4 to observe Independence Day. Normal hours at all branches will resume on July 5. Even though the library will be closed you can still go online to the library website at http://library.lakecountyca.gov to download ebooks, audiobooks, movies music and magazines. You can also check on your account, renew any items you have checked out or requests books from libraries in Lake, Sonoma and Mendocino to pick up at your local branch when the library reopen.

Ladies of the Lake Quilt Guild

Ladies of the Lake Quilt Guild will meet on Saturday, July 8 at the Lakeport Senior Center, 527 Konocti Avenue. The meeting starts at 10 a.m. Diane Goldsmith Harger will talk about her study of Japanese textile arts.  For more information, call 707-459-3903.

American Legion serves breakfast

The American Legion Post 437 will be serving bacon, sausage, and eggs to order. Also available will be pancakes, biscuits and gravy, juice, and coffee. Dishes will be sold at $8.

A Denver omelet will be served as a July special. The breakfast is on Sunday, July 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at 14770 Austin Road, Clearlake. For more information call 707-994-3677.

All you can eat pizza

Kelseyville Senior Center is having a fundraiser at D J’S Pizza, in Lower Lake on Wednesday, July 12 from 5 – 8 p.m.. The cost is $8 per person for all you can eat pizza. Come join the fun.

Keep Well Kids Club coming to Middletown

Today, communities’ children are facing an epidemic of bullying, obesity, diabetes and low self-esteem. Healthcare costs are rising.

Preventative programs are critical for protecting childrens’ physical, mental, emotional and social well-being. 

For three Saturdays, July 15, 22 and 29, The KC and The KeepWell Kids Club program is introducing a uniquely creative and interactive program designed to motivate and teach positive health habits to children.

Using Positive Psychology in Mediation

Lake County Mediations and the Lake County Bar Association have invited Lawrence R. Mills, a Mediator and Arbitrator with JAMS, to discuss the Use of Positive Psychology in Mediation, on Monday July 24 at 5:30 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chamber at the Lake County Courthouse (255 North Forbes Street in Lakeport).

Members of the community interested in learning more about Mediation or who have received Mediation training in the past are encouraged to attend this presentation.

Members of the community are invited to attend the presentation at no cost. Attorneys and Paralegals will be provided with 1 hour of General Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) credit for $10 by the Lake County Bar Association.

Mills brings an accomplished and multi-faceted career of over 35 years as an attorney specializing in commercial litigation and business counseling, and over 25 years of experience as a mediator and arbitrator to his dispute resolution practice. He is well known nationally in the field or Alternative Dispute Resolution, having served as Chair of the American Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators and a Fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators.
