- Liz King (front) and Jessica Stewart from Novato showed the crowd the benefit of good teamwork. They won first place in the 14-19 year old race.
- Hard work does pay off. Coltyn Young gave it his all in the 6-13 year olds race, earning him a spot in first place for the second year in a row.
- In second place for the 6-13 year olds race, Will Obata (right) and John Steward from Novato.
- First Flinstones drivers won third place in the second race. From Long Beach, Larisa Salinas and Tina Tsoiasue joked about their boat failure, blaming it on ‘low gas.’
- Pablo Becerra joined the last race with his son Joaquin, 9. Though they sank, the father helped them end the course with a little leg push.
- The Flintstones boat stayed afloat for the first five minutes of its first race. Two of the boat drivers decided to bring the what was left of the boat to participate in the final race. Though not successful, they got a good laugh out of their attempt.
- Many used colored and designed duct tape to decorate their cardboard boats. Some were titled The Firecrackers, Flying Freedom, Piece of Ship.
