LAKEPORT >> Steven Russell Miller, 39, who is suspected of murder in the death of his 20-year old daughter, entered a plea of not guilty to all counts during a court appearance last week.
In addition to murder, Miller faces a charge of exhibiting a weapon for the fatal shooting of Hannah Welch of Hidden Valley Lake.
The incident took place in a home in the 18000 block of Spyglass Drive in Hidden Valley on the evening of May 30.
According to Lake County Sheriff’s Office reports, Miller left the residence after allegedly firing on Welch and hitting her at least once. Deputies were able to track him down quickly and took him into custody.
The incident was reported to law enforcement by Miller’s mother, who reportedly told law enforcement officers Miller had shot his daughter.
Judge Stephen Hedstrom presided over the hearing at the Lake County Superior Court.
The matter is now set for a disposition/setting hearing on August 14 at 8:15 a.m. in Department 4 and the defendant is ordered to be present.
