MIDDLETOWN >> Terry Knight will relate a few of the fascinating things he has learned about Lake County history in the course of several decades as outdoor life columnist for the Lake County Record-Bee at Gibson Museum on Saturday, July 8.

His chat will begin at 3 p.m., questions are invited after his presentation, and the doors close at 5. Simple refreshments are offered by the Friends of Gibson. The program is free of charge, but donations are welcomed.

Knight has garnered a sizable following, both for his column and for his frequent appearances as a speaker. Literally born in a log cabin, in Minnesota, he has a lifelong interest in nature in all its manifestations. His writings about the marvels of nature have appeared not only in the local newspaper, but in “Outdoor Life,” “Sports Afield,” “Western Outdoor News,” “Fishing and Hunting News,” “Wilderness Unlimited” and other publications.

He spent 28 years working with FEMA (the Federal Emergency Management Agency) that included wide-ranging travel in the U.S. and abroad. All of that served to hone his considerable curiosity about everything.

Gibson volunteers are hoping he will share some of the insights gained while he held a ringside seat into the investigation of Mt. Konocti’s “mysterious caves,” along with little known knowledge about our lake, our mountains and our wildlife.

Seating at Gibson is limited, so reservations are always advised. Write Fireside@friendsofgibson.com or call 809-8009.
