COBB >> The 24th annual Lake County Junior Golf Championship returns to Adam Springs Golf Course on Cobb Mountain on Aug. 1. The tournament is open to boys and girls between the ages of 10-17.
Defending overall champions are Matt Wotherspoon, who will be gunning for a fifth straight title in the boys division, and Madison Witt in the girls division.
There are various flights based on age. Tee times are 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Most golfers will play 18 holes while those in the 10-11 age division play nine. Entries are available at all Lake County golf course pro shops or can be acquired by calling John Berry at 279-0449. The $15 tournament entry fee includes golf, lunch, tee prizes, and awards. The sign-up deadline is July 30 by 4 p.m.
This year’s tournament is sponsored by the Clearlake Callayomi Masonic Lodge, Eddie and Linda Mullins, the Hoberg Family, the Buckingham Men’s Golf Club, and John and Julie Berry.
Checks should be made payable to Lake County Junior Golf and mailed to John Berry, 2844 Buckingham Drive, Kelseyville, CA, 95451. Golfers can call the Adam Springs pro shop at 928-9992 after 10 a.m. on July 31 to get their tee times.
Consistent with NorCal junior tournaments, the Lake County Junior will not allow caddies. Spectators and fans must remain 30 feet away from all contestants. Spectator advice is prohibited and will result in penalty/disqualification, Contestants can carry their bag or use a pull cart. Motorized carts are prohibited.
