MIDDLETOWN >> The Middletown Mustang Youth Soccer Camp opens Tuesday and runs through July 20 at the Middletown High School soccer fields. Camps hours are 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. each day.
Sponsored by the Middletown girls soccer team, the nine-time defending North Central League I champions, the camp is designed to help boys and girls ages 5-10 improve their basic soccer skills. The first two days of the camp will concentrate on developing basic skills and teaching offensive and defensive strategies. The third and final day of the camp will put these skills into practice with a tournament consisting of several short games.
The cost is $30 per camper. Campers signing up mail are guaranteed camp T-shirts. Campers signing up on the first day of camp will receive T-shirts as long as supplies last.
Campers should bring their own water bottles to camp. Soccer balls will be supplied but you can bring your own. Cleats are recommended and shin guards must be worn at all times.
Campers need to fill out a registration form that must be signed by a parent or guardian. Once filled out, the registration form should be mailed to Aly Ferguson, P.O. Box 12, Cobb, CA., 95467. Make checks payable to Middletown High School. If you plan on registering the first day of camp, please show up at 8:30 a.m.
Summer Junior
BUCKINGHAM >> The 25th Buckingham Summer Junior Golf Championship takes place July 31 at Buckingham Golf and Country Club.
Sponsored by Buckingham Golf and Country Club, the Buckingham Niners, the Buckingham Tournament Players Club and the Buckingham Women’s Golf Club, the event is open to boys and girls between the ages of 8-17 and is divided into several age flights. The entry fee is $15, which includes green fees, tee prizes, lunch and trophies.
Matt Wotherspoon is the three-time defending champion in the boys division and Sarah Parlee is the two-time defending champion in the girls division.

Volleyball camp
KELSEYVILLE >> The annual Sonoma State/Kelseyville High School Volleyball Camp takes place July 31-Aug. 3 at the Kelseyville High gym.
The camp is actually two camps in one. Players entering the fifth through eighth grades compete in Camp A while players entering the ninth through 12th grades compete in Camp B.
Camp A meets from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day with an 11:15 a.m. check-in time. The cost is $90. Camp B meets from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Check-in times are 8:45 a.m. for the morning session and 1:45 p.m. for the afternoon session. The cost is $120.
Campers will be instructed by Bear Grassl, the Sonoma State women’s volleyball head coach, and members of the Kelseyville High School coaching staff. Campers will be instructed in overhand and underhand passing, spiking, blocking, serving, individual and team offensive formations, and individual and team defensive formations. Individual training is provided in all skill areas. Camp athletes will be assigned to ability-level-specific groups. Each camp session will end with controlled scrimmages and game-like situations.
Camp enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. The first 24 athletes in each camp will be accepted. There will be registration at the door on the first day of camp provided space is still available.
Campers needs to bring broken-in court shoes, shorts and kneepads. Water is provided.

Junior golf clinics
BUCKINGHAM >> Junior golfers are invited to take part in the annual Buckingham Junior Golf Clinic program under the direction of Buckingham PGA head golf professional Ted Mattila.
The one-hour clinic takes place on Tuesday evenings beginning at 5 p.m. at Buckingham Golf and Country Club. Juniors age 17 and younger can attend for $5 per clinic. The clinics run through Aug. 15.

Mattila has conducted junior golf clinics since 1992 and has been honored by the North Coast Chapter PGA three times with the Junior Golf Leader of the Year award. Mattila also has been recognized with the Northern California PGA Section Junior Golf Award. Since 1986, he has conducted junior golf clinics at three different facilities in Northern California.
CLHS physicals
LAKEPORT >> Clear Lake High School students planning to participate in sports during the upcoming 2017-18 school year can get their physical on July 27 or Aug. 3 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the high school gym.
The cost is $20.
Athletes much have a physical before they will be allowed to participate.
Tennis league play
KELSEYVILLE >> If you want to improve your tennis game and have fun in the process, the Konocti Junior Tennis League is just the thing for you.
The league, open to players between the ages of 8-18, meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. through the first week of August at the Gard Street tennis courts in Kelseyville.
