BUCKINGHAM >> It’s one hour of sharpening your golfing skills while having some fun in the process.

The weekly youth clinics held on Tuesday evenings each summer at Buckingham Golf and Country Club allow the next generation of golfers to learn the game and learn how to play it right under the watchful eye of Buckingham PGA professional Ted Mattila, who has been instructing youth golfers for many years at a variety of venues throughout Northern California.

During his most recent clinic on Tuesday, Mattila worked with seven youngsters on their chipping and putting strokes on one of Buckingham’s practice greens. Four members of the Kelseyville High School golf team were present, including Matt Wotherspoon, who is fresh off his win at the Marin County Junior Golf Championship on June 28. Wotherspoon was joined by teammates Jon Vanderwall, Mike Beverlin and Maddie Witt.

The clinics, which opened in June and run through Aug. 15, are open to boys and girls ages 17 and younger regardless of skill level. The cost is $5 per clinic. The clinic starts at 5 p.m.
