LAKEPORT >> Clear Lake High School cross country coach Peter Stanley is holding a meeting for all new runners and their parents on Tuesday beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Renee’s Cafe in Lakeport.

If you’re an incoming freshman or a sophomore, junior or senior who is running cross country for the first time, you need to attend the meeting. You will meet the coach and teammates and learn about Clear Lake’s cross country program and what it takes to be a successful runner. If you’re interested in being part of a team, improving your physical shape or are simply conditioning to stay in shape for a winter sport, cross country has something to offer you.

Milkshakes will be provided courtesy of coach Stanley.

Summer Junior

BUCKINGHAM >> The 25th Buckingham Summer Junior Golf Championship takes place Monday at Buckingham Golf and Country Club.

The event is open to boys and girls between the ages of 8-17 and is divided into several age flights. The entry fee is $15, which includes green fees, tee prizes, lunch and trophies.

Volleyball camp

KELSEYVILLE >> The annual Sonoma State/Kelseyville High School Volleyball Camp opens Monday and runs through Aug. 3 at the Kelseyville High gym.

The camp is actually two camps in one. Players entering the fifth through eighth grades compete in Camp A while players entering the ninth through 12th grades compete in Camp B.

Camp A meets from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day with an 11:15 a.m. check-in time. The cost is $90. Camp B meets from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Check-in times are 8:45 a.m. for the morning session and 1:45 p.m. for the afternoon session. The cost is $120.

Camp enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Campers needs to bring broken-in court shoes, shorts and kneepads. Water is provided.

County Junior

COBB >> The 24th annual Lake County Junior Golf Championship returns to Adam Springs Golf Course on Cobb Mountain on Tuesday. The tournament is open to boys and girls between the ages of 10-17.

There are various flights based on age. Tee times are 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Most golfers will play 18 holes while those in the 10-11 age division play nine. Entries are available at all Lake County golf course pro shops or can be acquired by calling John Berry at 279-0449. The $15 tournament entry fee includes golf, lunch, tee prizes, and awards. The sign-up deadline is Sunday by 4 p.m.

Checks should be made payable to Lake County Junior Golf and mailed to John Berry, 2844 Buckingham Drive, Kelseyville, CA, 95451. Golfers can call the Adam Springs pro shop at 928-9992 after 10 a.m. on July 31 to get their tee times.
