UKIAH >> High temperatures didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of racing fans Saturday night at the Ukiah Speedway where the pits were packed with PCS Late Models, Limited Modifieds, Taco Bell bombers and Pro-4 modifieds.

Late Models

Among the PCS Late Models, Randy Hedrick of Reno won the 75-lap main event while Mike Beeler came in second and Matt Wendt of Galt third. Rounding out the top five finishers were John Moore of Granite Bay in fourth place and Myles Anderson of Fort Bragg in fifth place.

Cole Moore of Granite Bay won the trophy dash and also set the fast time at 12.575 seconds.

Pro-4 modifieds

Sammy Nuno of Windsor qualified the fastest at 14.277 seconds in his 15S car, but it was Marty Lewis of Santa Rosa who won the 10-lap heat race and 15-lap main event. In the feature, Lewis took the checkered flag in front of Mike Peterson Jr. of Ukiah and Nuno of Windsor.

B-Bombers

It was Ron Portlock night in the B-bomber division as the Ukiah driver scored a clean sweep, setting the fast time of 15.676 seconds, winning the 10-lap heat race and beating Tim McCann of Redwood Valley to the finish line in the main event.

Limited Modifieds

Erick Ray of Orangevale won the 30-lap Limited Modified main event in his No. 77 car, finishing ahead of Trystan Mucci of Nice, Ian Elliot of Lakeport, Michael Gorham of Lincoln and Cole Brown of Ukiah.

Steve Taylor of Cloverdale was the fast qualifier in 13.499 seconds. Heat wins went to Elliot in the first heat race and to Gorham in the second heat race. Elliot also won the four-lap trophy dash.

Taco Bell bombers

RJ Randall of Redwood Valley took the checkered flag in the 30-lap Taco Bell bombers main event. Bob Mook of Santa Rosa was the runner-up while David Thompson of Sheridan, Dustin Kuhl of Clearlake and Dave Land of Ukiah rounded out the top five finishers.

In other action, Mook won the trophy dash, Land won the first heat race, and Thompson won the second heat race. Mook also was the fast qualifier at 14.739 seconds.

Upcoming

Stock car action resumes Aug. 12 in Lakeport with the Limited Modifieds, Pro-4 modifieds, Taco Bell bombers, Jammers, Legends and bandoleros on the racing card. Grandstands open at 3:30 p.m. and qualifying begins at 5 p.m. Entrance fees are $12 for adults, $9 for senior citizens and students, and $6 for children ages 6-12. Kids 5 and younger get in free.
