UPPER LAKE >> The Red &White Scrimmage and Upper Lake High School football/soccer field lights dedication ceremony takes place Aug. 18 beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The Red &White Scrimmage is the annual final tuneup for Upper Lake football players as they prepare for their first game of the season. One week after the Red & White scrimmage, the Cougars hit the road to play Los Molinos.
During the Red & White Scrimmage Upper Lake players are divided into red and white teams. They play two halves of football to determine the winner. This year at halftime a lights dedication ceremony will take place. Lights were installed at the Upper Lake field during the spring and the Cougars will play all their home games at night this season for the first time in their history. The decade-long Lights of Love fundraiser and a generous donation from the Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake/Running Creek Casino made installation of the lights possible.
Entry to the Red &White Scrimmage is $5 for adults and $3 for students. The Upper Lake High School football team will be selling burritos a la carte for $5 or burrito meals for $8. All proceeds benefit the ULHS football program.
