LAKEPORT >> September 29 is LCTC’s opening night for “The Producers,” Mel Brooks’ hilarious award winning musical classic, at Lakeport’s Soper Reese Theater. Director, Maheanani Phillips-Blair, has assembled a capable cast and staff to bring this timeless play to life.
The local theater will be visited by Max Bialystock, the infamous producer who schemes to make more money on Broadway with a flop than with a hit play. He pairs this adventure with his reluctant, but ambitious accountant, Leo Bloom.
Nick Powell will reprise Max Bialystock, the most notorious glorious scoundrel Broadway has ever known. Powell has recently been seen as Daddy Warbucks in “Annie,” Harold Hill, in “The Music Man,” and JC in “Jesus Christ Superstar.”
Tim Fischer is set to remake Leo Bloom, the peculiar accountant and owner of the ill-fated idea. His talents have been seen on the stage as Frankenfurter, in “The Rocky Horror Show, Henry Higgins, “My Fair Lady” at Ukiah Players Theater, and Director of Annie, Music Man and Spamalot.
These actors are joined by a bevy of cast members, singers, and dancers.
The Producers has been in rehearsal since May with choreography directed by Sarah Dutra and music directed by Claudia Listman.
