KELSEYVILLE >> SPCA of Lake County will be holding an Orientation on Sunday August 20 at 11:30 a.m. This is directly following the facility’s monthly Vaccination clinic (9 a.m. to 11 a.m.). Feel free to stop on by and find out if this opportunity is for you.
Each clinic day veterinarians spay/neuter up to 30 animals, potentially preventing hundreds of unwanted pregnancies in Lake County. The program starts around 7 a.m. and volunteer needs go until 7 or 8 p.m. SPCA needs morning volunteers (4-6 hours) to help with intake paperwork and assisting staff with weighing dogs.
People are also needed bring in lunch service for a staff of 8-12. Sandwiches, salads, etc. (Just an hour).
Afternoon shifts of progressing laundry (towels, surgical gowns, etc.), emptying trashcans, making copies of release documents, filing (3 or 4 hours) .
As work winds down they need to spray and wipe down interior metal kennels, meet with clients going over release instructions, final empty of trash, sweep, more laundry.
This is not glamorous work, but SPCA staff believe the effort of their volunteers is making a huge difference in reducing the number of unwanted animals in Lake County.
