HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE >> The Hidden Valley Lake Association plans to test recently installed emergency sirens today at 2 p.m.

Six large emergency sirens are in place. They are intended to notify the residents of Hidden Valley Lake of the need for evacuations due to a catastrophic event, whether man made or natural.

The emergency sirens have been located throughout the Hidden Valley Lake area.

While the sirens are ready for testing, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Hidden Valley Lake Association are still in the process of finalizing procedures for when the sirens will be activated during actual emergencies.

According to a prepared statement from the LCSO, during an actual emergency association representatives will not activate the siren system until they have received permission from the Sheriff’s Office, the California Highway Patrol or other authorized law enforcement agency.

During today’s test, there will be two separate activations of the sirens. Residents are asked not to call 911 or the Sheriff’s Office if they hear the sirens .
