For the second year in a row, the Umpqua Bank Charitable Foundation has awarded $2,500 in grant funding for the Lake County Symphony Association; the LCSA supports the Lake County Symphony as well as the Lake County Symphony Youth Orchestra, by providing scholarships and youth music education in Lake County. The grant will be awarded at the Lake County Symphony’s Fall Concert in November.
“I am honored to present these funds on behalf of Umpqua Bank,” said Paula Bryant, Vice President and Commercial Relationship Manager of Umpqua Bank in Lakeport. “The Lake County Symphony Association is a deserving recipient of our support. By providing opportunity for our musicians, the program enhances not only the youth and adult musicians, but our community as a whole.” Organizations can submit an application for a Community Giving grant at www.umpquabank.com/communitygiving.
“The Symphony Association, which has assumed responsibility for underwriting the orchestra, is grateful for the support given us by community-minded organizations such as Umpqua Bank,” said Charlie Schley, president of the Lake County Symphony Association. “In spite of Lake County’s small population and long distance from other population centers, we have found ways to fund one of the finest symphonies in the North Counties. It is only through dedicated members and generous support from the business community that the Lake County Symphony is even possible. Under the able direction of conductor John Parkinson, the orchestra has grown over the years and performances have graduated from schools and churches to a permanent home at the Soper-Reese Theatre.”
