On Saturday, August 19 the Clearlake community came together to help spruce up the Highlands Senior Service Center with a fresh coat of paint. Over twenty volunteers, primarily from Adventist Health Clear Lake (formerly St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake), showed up to spend the day prepping and painting the main assembly rooms in preparation for the State of the City event on August 30.
Director of the Center and Councilmember Joyce Overton addressed the assembled volunteers saying, “You can all be proud of the work that you are doing here today. The seniors are going to love the new, bright colors. It is so much happier and cheerful in here now. Thank you very much.”
David Santos, CEO of Adventist Health Clear Lake, was one of the notable volunteers at the event, along with Bruno Sabatier.
City Manager, Greg Folsom, was also very impressed with the outcome.
“What a difference a coat of paint can make,” he said. “It was looking a bit dreary before, but now it really does have a different, more inviting feel. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this happen.”
