CLEARLAKE OAKS >> Shortly after receiving a call at around 2:10 p.m. the Northshore Fire Protection District responded to a structure fire that took place in a senior mobile home park at 400 Sulphur Bank Road in Clearlake Oaks on Tuesday. Investigations as to why the fire started, continue.
According to Northshore Fire Chief Jay Beristianos, the blaze started on the front porch of the residence, burning down the rest of the home.
“The resident of the home was a victim of the Valley fire and was living in a home provided by FEMA for displaced fire victims,” said Beristianos.
A total of 17 crew members from Cal Fire and the Northshore station responded quickly to the incident, wasting no time in extinguishing the flames and hindering it from reaching other neighboring homes that were just feet away, local Jeff Jenkins shared.
“I commend all emergency crews that responded to quick response time and hard, dangerous work,” said Jenkins.
There were no injuries reported. Fire crews were glad to have been able to save the resident’s cat from the structure just in time. Clean up continued on Wednesday as the Chief awaits further investigation updates.
