KELSEYVILLE >> Over 55 educators from school districts around the county gathered for a special dinner at the Riviera Hills, hosted by the Lake County Office of Education. County Superintendent of Schools Brock Falkenberg led the gathering on Tuesday afternoon.

“This is to welcome Lake educators and begin the process of getting them engaged in the community,” said Falkenberg. He told district superintendents, principals, returning teachers and new educators of their overall shared vision: provide high-quality education for each student in Lake County.

Falkenberg adds, “High-quality education is the key to the future of Lake County. Today’s students are tomorrow’s business owners, entrepreneurs, and engineers.”

While on the topic of engaging in the community, he encouraged those present to spend dollars locally in an effort to keep money flowing within the county, helping each community grow. Attendees clapped when the superintendent shared his belief that the foundation of a stable community and its businesses start with a solid education.

After Falkenberg gave his speech, Jaime Gills, representative of Community First Credit Union announced the Credit Union’s support of the county’s education districts. One way they are aiding the system is by providing free online literacy programs.

Districts introduced their newest teachers in various grade levels and subjects including math, science, English, and music. Teachers were welcomed, sharing where they came from, what school they were now a part of, and what they will teach. Among them mentioned was science teacher Amanda Laughner, from Massachusetts. She was introduced by her district superintendent Giovanni Annous from the Upper Lake Unified School District. Other educators born and raised in the county, and from Montana, Idaho, and New Zealand were welcomed.
