BOONVILLE >> Kiana Richardson’s hitting and Camille Donald’s serving took all of the fight out of the Anderson Valley Panthers on Tuesday night as Clear Lake rolled to a 25-10, 25-7, 25-10 non-league varsity volleyball victory that took less time to complete than the Cardinals’ drive over to Boonville.
“I told them if they were done in less than 45 minutes I would buy them ice cream,” Clear Lake coach Marci Psalmonds said.
And ice cream it was for the Cardinals, who improved to 3-0 on the season.
Richardson overpowered Anderson Valley at the net, recording 22 kills on only 28 arm swings.
“Kiana had an awesome night,” Psalmonds said.
So did Donald, who went to the service line in set two with Clear Lake leading 8-7 and promptly reeled off 17 straight points.
“She has a jump float (serve) that was working,” Psalmonds said.
Donald finished the match with 29 service points, including six aces.
Other Clear Lake standouts were setter Kylie Udy with 37 assists and Valerie Hutton with seven kills and three blocks.
The Cardinals have a busy weekend ahead against some tough competition. They play a varsity-only match Friday in Eureka and then come back Saturday to participate in the Arcata Tournament.
Clear Lake also beat Anderson Valley in the junior varsity match, 25-9, 25-11, behind six kills from Shaelyn McIntire and eight service points from Ashlyn Gudmundson.

Las Plumas def. M’town
At Oroville, the Middletown Mustangs didn’t put up much of a fight while losing 25-17, 25-10, 25-10 to Las Plumas in non-league action.
“It was not a good night,” Middletown coach Vanessa Davis said. “We made a lot of errors.”
Abby Hibner and Taylor Griffin turned in some solid work during the match. Hibner finished with three kills and two blocks while Griffin blocked six shots to go along with two aces.
The Mustangs are 1-4 on the season.
Middletown’s JV squad pushed Las Plumas to the maximum three sets before dropping a 25-18, 22-25, 15-8 decision.

Stacey Tablit served seven straight points during Middletown’s second-set win. Nina Jekel turned in strong overall play, according to Davis, who complimented Jekel’s passing and hitting.

Tech 4, M’town 3
At Rohnert Park, Middletown midfielder Einar Monroy’s third goal of the game tied the score at 3 in the final minute of regulation, but Technology scored with seconds left in stoppage time to deny the Mustangs their first victory of the 2017 season.
“Obviously Einar played a great game,” Middletown coach Luis Chairez said of his junior.
Monroy’s game-tying goal, which completed his hat track, came on a direct kick from 35-40 yards out, according to Chairez. He scored earlier in the second half to cut Technology’s lead to 3-2.
“He dribbled from the middle and knocked it in from about 18 yards out,” Chairez said.
Technology built a 3-1 lead in the first half. Monroy’s penalty kick gave the Mustangs their initial goal.
Middletown’s solid play on defense in the second half allowed the Mustangs to tie the game late in regulation play. Anchoring that defense were Jonathan Pamatz, a freshman, and Jacob Blair, a junior.
The Mustangs have only three seniors on their 17-man roster.
“The last three games we’ve been improving,” Chairez said of the Mustangs (0-3). “We’ll be ready once league gets here.”
Middletown opens its North Central League I schedule on Tuesday in Fort Bragg.
