MIDDLETOWN >> The public is invited to celebrate all the new books purchased for the Middletown Library with a generous $10,000 donation from the Friends of the Middletown Library (FML).
The New Books Party will happen September 19 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Middletown branch of Lake County Library located at 21256 Washington St. in Middletown. The party will feature games, prizes, music, snacks and, of course, books.
From the donated funds, $2,000 will be allocated for juvenile picture books, $2,000 for juvenile chapter books, $2,000 for juvenile non-fiction, $3,000 for young adult books, and $1,000 for audiovisual materials.
The FML recently completed a challenge fund raiser to provide funds for the children’s section of the Middletown Library. The FML has donated thousands of dollars for various library needs, but this time they wanted to earmark their gift to the children of Middletown and to give a substantial gift that would really make a difference. The goal was to raise $5,000 that the FML would then match, so that the FML would donate $10,000 for books and other materials. The board of supervisors accepted the donation on behalf of the library on August 8.
