The CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit will host Open Fire Stations on Saturday, October 14 from 9 a.m. to noon in honor of National Fire Prevention Week.

The Unit’s Chief Shana Jones said, “Open fire stations provide the community and fire service personnel an opportunity to discuss fire and life safety actions, outside of an emergency incident.”

Jones encourages the public to visit the fire station, take a tour, see the equipment close up and meet CAL FIRE personnel.

The 2017 National Fire Prevention Week theme is “Every second counts! Plan 2 ways out!” Cal Fire recommends that families review at least two ways out of one’s home, in case of an emergency, and discuss with the family where the “meeting place” is once everyone is out of the home.

“Remember, once you’re out of the home or building stay out,” Cal Fire said.

Cal Fire will host open houses in over 10 stations across four counties including Lake County and Napa County.
