CLEARLAKE >> City Manager Greg Folsom announced the City of Clearlake’s partnership with Citizens Caring For Clearlake (CC4C) in clearing a vacant property that became an illegal dump site during Thursday’s city council meeting.

The property is located at 3704 Koloko St. Volunteers from CC4C began sorting recyclables from the trash covered property in early September. By September 14 and 18, Code Enforcement and Public Works personnel removed the recycling and loaded trash into dumpsters with a backhoe. CC4C volunteers continued working on the site until completing the clean up this week.

According to Code Enforcement Supervisor, Lee Lambert, “The amount of garbage on the site was just insane. We assisted in removing over 60 cubic yards of garbage, 61 tires, 2,000 pounds of scrap metal, 2,400 pounds of scrap wood, a bunch of appliances and other junk, not to mention three abandoned vehicles that we had towed away using Abandoned Vehicle Abatement funds.”

Folsom said this was the City’s third project with CC4C. “This particular project was in the middle of a neighborhood that is now tremendously nicer. We could not have achieved this without the support of CC4C and the great work they are doing to clean up our city.”
