LOWER LAKE >> Middletown completed a perfect first half with a 6-1 victory over the Lower Lake Trojans in North Central League I girls soccer action on Tuesday evening in Lower Lake.
Middletown, the nine-time defending league champion well on its way to a 10th straight title, improved to 7-0 in the league standings and 12-2-2 overall behind a hat trick from Aly Ferguson, who also picked up an assist in the win. Sophie Kucer added a goal and four assists while Kassi Agapoff and Gracie Armstrong also scored for the Mustangs.
Middletown led 3-0 after the first half against what Mustangs coach Lamont Kucer called an improved Lower Lake squad.
“They’re not pushovers,” Kucer said of the Trojans (0-6, 0-10). “They are a much improved team from last year.”
Added Kucer, “It was a good team effort. We focused on passing and playing as a team and not as individuals.”
Lower Lake scoring was not reported.
Middletown opens the second half of its league schedule Thursday at home against Fort Bragg at 3 p.m.
