UPPER LAKE >> The Upper Lake Cougars checked out before the game began and ended up on the wrong end of a 8-0 loss to the Mendocino Cardinals on Wednesday during a North Central League III boys soccer game at Upper Lake High School.
Upper Lake coach Kevin O’Brien said the Cougars (4-2 league, 4-10 overall) didn’t come ready to play and were never in it against a Mendocino team that scored four times in each half.
“We just played awful,” O’Brien said. “We were flat out outplayed. I don’t know what happened honestly.”
It was only the second league loss for the Cougars in six games. Now they’ll have a week to think about it as they are off until next Wednesday when they host Roseland Collegiate Prep.
