LAKEPORT >> Due to the recent fires, the Halloween Spirits benefit has been rescheduled from October 21 to Friday, November 3. The event, from 7p.m. to 10 p.m. will take place at the Big Valley Hall, 1510 Big Valley Road, at the Lakeport/Finley border. Halloween Spirits will be a rock, r&b, blues dance party celebrating Halloween and Day of the Dead with the six-piece band Clean Sweep.
This is an opportunity to wear Halloween costumes more than once this year, or to try out a different one. Special treats can be claimed at the door if in costume. Prizes for the dance and costume contests have been provided by The Soap Shack Baby in Lakeport. There will also be a Day of the Dead altar that will include activities to remember loved ones.
Local wine and handcrafted beer, soda and homemade treats will be sold. Extra cash for holiday shopping at the raffle and silent auction is encouraged. Raffle items donated by local friends and vendors include: jewelry, beauty items, household decor, gift certificates for stores and massage, wine and more. Cover charge is $10 and no pets are allowed.
Proceeds will be directed to the Hope City fund at NCO to purchase supplies to rebuild homes without sufficient insurance that were lost in the previous fires. Recently, Hope City volunteers have been assisting Sulphur Fire evacuees at Twin Pine Event Center and in Santa Rosa. To volunteer or donate, more information is on their Facebook page and at: www.hcrn.info. Cash is recommended for the NCO Sulphur Fire fund. Big Valley Hall will also receive some funds for renovations to enhance future benefits.
This is the 7th benefit concert for fire survivors produced by Spotlight On Productions in partnership with The Time Bank of Thrive Lake County. Promotions have been provided by programmers at KPFZ, Community Radio at 88.1 FM and Lake County PEG TV, Ch. 8 for Mediacom subscribers. Event staffing has been offered by volunteers from the community, KPFZ and The Time Bank, a network of people exchanging time for resources. The Time Bank of Thrive Lake County can be found on Facebook and at: http://www.thrivelakecounty.org/time-bank.html.
Additional thanks are due to the sponsors of this benefit: Lake County Contractors on Cobb, Iris Angeleri, Realtor in Lakeport and Joyce Cave of Waddell & Reed, Financial Advisors in San Mateo.
