LOWER LAKE >> If you lived or worked in Lake County at the time of the Sulphur Fire, you may be eligible for a free one-month food card through Disaster CalFresh, also known as the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP).

The Lake County Department of Social Services (LCDSS) will be accepting applications from Wednesday, October 25, 2017 to Wednesday, November 1, , 8 a.m. to 7 p.m,, except on Sunday.

Your household may be eligible if you:

· Lost your home or business

· Lost income (such as not being able to go to work)

· Lost food (such as experiencing a power outage of four hours or more)

· Had disaster related expenses that will not be reimbursed (such as repairs, temporary housing, or evacuation expenses)

Income limits are increased for this special program, for example a household of one that has net income under $1,700 would receive $192, and a household of four with net income under $2,755 would receive $640.

One adult in the household is required to provide proof of identity, complete a short application and an in-person interview. Eligible households will usually get their card the same day the interview is completed.

Current CalFresh beneficiaries living in zip codes 95461, 95422, 95423, 95424, 95458 and 95443 will automatically receive a supplement on their EBT card up to the maximum Disaster CalFresh amount for their household. CalFresh beneficiaries living in other zip codes that were impacted by the Sulphur Fire can apply for a supplement.
