At Mendocino, the Upper Lake Cougars were hoping to close the regular season on a somewhat stronger note but were instead shut out by the Mendocino Cardinals.

“Definitely not a good showing for us,” Upper Lake coach Kevin O’Brien said. “It’s not the way we wanted to end the season. We’re still going to put in for an at-large berth (in next week’s North Coast Section playoffs).”

Upper Lake (6-4 league, 6-12 overall) will find out on Sunday if it has received an at-large playoff berth.
