LAKEPORT >> In a recent appearance at the Lake County Superior Court, Elysia Raylene Sandoval informed the judge she wishes to pursue a motion to withdraw her plea.
Earlier this year, Sandoval, 21, pled no contest to an assault with a deadly weapon charge, also admitting to the great bodily injury allegation.
Sandoval is being charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon (great bodily injury likely) from an incident last December when a Lakeport police investigation revealed her alleged involvement in a stabbing incident near Library Park.
Judge Andrew Blum presided over the sentencing hearing. He determined to continue the case with Defense Attorney Tracy Gatlin being appointed for the purpose of a possible motion to be filed for Sandoval to withdraw her plea.
The Court ordered the Sandoval to appear again on November 6 at 1:30 p.m. in Department Two.
Iano set to enter plea
Marcus Jon Iano, 42, of Hidden Valley Lake, is set to enter a plea after a recent arraignment hearing.
He is charged with attempted murder, torture, causing permanent disability, mayhem, assault with firearm and assault with a deadly weapon which is not a firearm (with great bodily injury).
Detectives from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit arrested Iano, alleging attempted murder. His girlfriend was reportedly transported to Adventist Health Hospital in Clearlake by Iano and his mother, Susan Iano.
Iano and his mother reported a possible overdose of the victim as the woman was unresponsive at the time they brought her in— questions arose from the doctors when they examined the victim and doctors discovered what they thought to be a bullet in her head.
During the arraignment hearing, Iano was given a copy of the complaint and advised of his Constitutional rights.
The Court appointed Public Defender, Tracy Gatlin to represent the defendant and the issue of bail was not argued with bail remaining in the amount of $1,500,000.
