A sedan caught fire Sunday after slamming into a tree on Old River Road, the Hopland Fire Department reported.
Chief Mitch Franklin said his crews were dispatched to the scene just north of the Green Bridge around 3:15 p.m. Nov. 5 and arrived to find a vehicle fully engulfed in flames.
Franklin said the driver, identified only as an 18-year-old, had been “pulled out of the vehicle by some Good Samaritans.”
The driver had also suffered a head injury and was airlifted to Santa Rosa by Cal Star 4. Personnel from Cal Fire, VeriHealth and the California Highway Patrol also responded.
