Ignore the critics

By Carmon Brittain

When nighttime speaks to the insomniac in prose

Daylight oft brings the memory to a close

Oh, where is a pen, a pencil, a recorder, the paper??

There is a need for a person to listen, a mind to remember!

Iambic pentameter, poetry verse, whatever the rule

Being “right” only brings out the fool!

The only rule that matters is RHYME!

And WORDS SPILLING OUT ENDLESSLY IN TIME!

There is a beauty in seeing our thoughts in verse

But remembering a dream can be so cursed

And, when the ego sees the printed word

The rest of the world thinks it ABSURD!

To sit beside to sit across

By Michael B. Adams

What right have you to stand for me

To say that for your freedom be

For freedom comes from life itself

And has but stand for only self

This freedom brings my thoughts to see

That we’re connected you and me

It is the thing that brings you more

The lessons that your standing for

Along the path of life you’ll lead

Plentiful of words to read

Of many thoughts that you have said

Will bring you to my waiting bed

To sit beside or sit across

The choices of relations lost

For is it touch of you for me

Or look into your eyes to see

That separation will be learned

Of strength of each will be returned

For honest love will never cease

As independence does increase.
