December is a big month for Lakeport Women’s Civic Club. It is the month after their annual holiday craft fair, one of two large fund raisers that they host each year.
This year’s event was an outstanding success. Money from the sale of booth spaces, a magnificent bake sale, and all day snack bar serving homemade muffins and soups, will go a long way towards serving our community.
Each year ladies of the LWCC look forward to having Kim Bojorques, manager of the Lakeport Fire Dept. Toy Drive, as our lunch guest and every year they look forward to presenting him with toys and gifts that they have shopped for. Some of these ladies have as many as 13 great grandchildren so they know how much the right toy can mean to a child.
Rich Fiero from Veteran’s Honor Guard and Griff Ratterree from Post 2015 will also be joining the LWCC for holiday luncheon this month and receiving a generous check to help support the activities provided by these valiant men all around the lake.
All of this, and Christmas entertainment too, will take place at their general meeting on Friday, December 1 at 11:30 a.m. at Riviera Hills Country Club. Bill Vanderwall, of Vanderwall Engineering, will be playing guitar and singing all of his favorite Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley and Chris Isaac tunes. It promises to be a wonderfully festive occasion of celebration and giving!
