The defense attorney for Ezequiel Junior Bravo may seek a change of venue before the case goes any further.
Bravo, 25, faces four counts of murder, among other charges, for his alleged involvement in a shooting last November that left one dead and three wounded in the Elem Colony at Clearlake Oaks.
During a recent motion hearing at Lake County Superior Court in Lakeport, attorney Angela Carter indicated that she is working on filing a change of venue motion. In addition, she intends to ask the judge to dismiss one or more of the charges.
The shootings were a widely covered story in local media outlets. Most information available at the time and presented to the public came from law enforcement sources.
Judge Stephen Hedstrom set a motion to change venue hearing for December 5 at 1:30 p.m. in Department 4.
The defendant remains in custody and is ordered to be present at the coming court appearance.
Sandoval may not change plea, after all
The sentencing of Elysia Raylene Sandoval will again have to wait.
The 21 year old initially pled no contest to charges related to a stabbing incident last December. At a hearing earlier this year, however, Defense Attorney Anakalia Sullivan informed the court that Sandoval wished to pursue a motion to withdraw her plea.
At that time, Defense Attorney Tracy Gatlin was appointed for the purpose of a possible move to be filed.
Gatlin now informs the Court that Sandoval does not wish to pursue the motion to withdraw her plea and the court ordered Gatlin relieved in this matter.
The charges against Sandoval stem from an incident last December when a Lakeport police investigation revealed her alleged involvement in a stabbing incident near Library Park.
Sullivan requested a continuance to allow time to review the report and recommendation from the Probation Department.
With no opposition, the sentencing hearing will now continue on November 27 at 1:30 p.m. in Department 2.
