LUCERNE CUTOFF >> Two people were flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital after suffering moderate injuries during a two-vehicle, head-on collision on southbound Highway 29, near the Nice-Lucerne Cutoff late Monday afternoon.

The crash involved a black Honda Odyssey and a blue Honda Accord at approximately 5:31 p.m. The driver of the Odyssey was identified as 73-year-old Bonnie Adams from Plumas Lake, and Roen Adams, 20, of Oakland, behind the Accord.

A CHP officer on the scene said there was a possibility the van was initially traveling northbound on Highway 29 before colliding into the Accord on the southbound lane. CHP then confirmed the facts in a report, adding that less than one minute later the car crashed into the Accord in the southbound left lane of the highway.

Both left lanes on each side of Highway 29 remained closed until the late evening hours of Monday.

Though the investigation remains active, drugs and or alcohol are not believed to have contributed to the collision.
