LOWER LAKE >> Aleia Milano scored 32 points and Elizabeth Ingalls pulled down 22 rebounds on Wednesday night as the Lower Lake Trojans knocked off the Analy Tigers 72-51 in non-league varsity girls basketball action at Lower Lake High School.
Samantha Caires added 16 points while Vanessa Hughes contributed 10 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and six steals in the victory.
“We needed a bounceback game after losing to Durham and I think we got it,” Lower Lake coach Dave Milano said, pointing to the Trojans’ previous game, a 59-52 loss on Saturday to Durham in the championship game of the Durham Tournament.
Lower Lake (7-2) took a 33-19 lead into the locker room at halftime, but Milano said there was room for improvement in his team’s play.
“We didn’t have the energy I thought we should have had in the first half,” Milano said. “We talked about that at halftime. I thought we picked it up in the second half.”
Starting four guards and Ingalls at center, the Trojans got off to a great start in the first quarter when Milano, Caires, Hughes and Katelyn Farrell all sank 3-pointers.
“We came out strong and really shot the ball well,” Milano said.
The Trojans sank 11 shots from behind the 3-point arc, six of them by the senior Milano, who also led the team with four blocks.
Ingalls had six points to go along with her double-digit rebound total.
“That’s going to cost me, too,” Milano said. “I promised to get her a pizza if she had 20 rebounds.”
Lower Lake’s junior varsity team lost to Analy earlier in the evening (the score was not reported).
