CLEARLAKE OAKS >> A Clearlake Oaks man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly possessing over $50,000 in marijuana and methamphetamine.

David Wayne Christensen, 61, was taken into custody by deputies from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office after a search of his home turned up suspected illegal narcotics and a weapon. He faces multiple charges related to possession and intent to sell.

Deputies originally pulled Christensen over on Thursday morning for a vehicle code violation. The traffic stop was made near his home in the 12000 block of Widgeon Way in Clearlake Oaks.

According to a statement released by LCSO Lt. Corey Paulich, Christensen informed deputies at the time that he was on searchable probation related to marijuana sales. The deputies reportedly searched Christensen’s truck, but found nothing illegal.

It was when deputies continued the probation search at Christensen’s home that they located a store of drugs.

“During the search, deputies located a gallon size plastic bag containing approximately 13 ounces of suspected methamphetamine,” Paulich said in the statement. “Deputies also located approximately 14.5 pounds of marijuana that was packaged in one pound increments.”

Paulich reported that the suspected methamphetamine had a street value of approximately $37,000 and the marijuana had a street value of approximately $14,000.

In addition to the drugs, the search revealed a loaded .38 caliber handgun and high capacity magazine, located in Christensen’s bedroom.

Christensen was placed under arrest and transported to the Lake County Jail where he was booked into custody for multiple possession charges, as well as charges related to the weapon.

He remains in custody with bail set at $25,000.
