CLEARLAKE >> Adventist Health Clear Lake Medical Center’s patient waiting lounge and eating area, formerly known as the Garden Room, is completely transformed with a new configuration, furniture, look and name: the Mountain View Café.
The Mountain View Café takes advantage of the medical center’s million dollar view of the red hills and vineyards to the west by arranging seating to face the large windows that are the focal point of the room. Other seating is available at booths and stools to accommodate those waiting for a procedure or loved one or sitting to enjoy a meal. In early 2018, a coffee cart making handmade espresso drinks and other beverages will begin service.
Adventist Health Clear Lake worked with Robert Boccabella of Business Design Services in Lakeport on its redesign of the space. Boccabella worked with the team to reconfigure the layout of the space and to select new wall treatments, paint and furniture.
The remodel of the Mountain View Café is step one in the organization’s nutrition services transformation. With the reopening of the space came new hours for the kitchen, which is providing “grab and go” items, drinks and snacks from 7 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. Monday through Friday in addition to the full menu offered during breakfast, lunch and dinner hours. The menu is also being revitalized, with an emphasis on a variety of options, including healthy and vegetarian cuisine, and utilizing fresh vegetables and herbs from the medical center’s on-site organic garden.
“This refresh of a busy space at the hospital makes it more comfortable and inviting for our staff, patients and visitors,” said Rachelle Damiata, nutritional services manager. “We are excited to continue making changes to our menu and service to help our community make healthy diet decisions that taste delicious.”
The Mountain View Café celebrated its reopening with a ribbon cutting on Monday, December 11, the first day of a week of events for staff and visitors planned to highlight the new space and offerings from the kitchen.
The Café offers breakfast from 7 — 9 a.m., lunch from 11:30 a.m. — 1:30 p.m. and dinner from 5:15 — 6:15 p.m. with grab and go options available Monday — Friday from 7 a.m. — 6:15 p.m. It can be found adjacent to the front lobby at the Adventist Health Clear Lake Medical Center at 15630 18th Avenue in Clearlake.
