LAKEPORT >> Attorney J. David Markham of Lakeport has been appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to replace retired Lake County Superior Court Judge Richard Martin (Department 3).

His appointment was one of 33 announced by Governor Brown last week.

“It is truly an honor to receive this prestigious appointment from the Governor,” stated Markham. “Judge Martin has left some very large shoes to fill and I will do my best to maintain the high level of integrity, fairness and dedication to justice that he displayed for so many years in the courtroom.”

Markham has been a sole practitioner since 2004. He was an associate at Alvord and Ewing from 2003 to 2004. Markham served as a deputy district attorney at the Lake County District Attorney’s Office from 2001 to 2002.

He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Empire College School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from UC Davis.

Markham had intended to campaign for a seat on the Superior Court in the 2018 election. With his appointed tern not set to expire until 2020, Markham officially suspended his campaign.

“I’m very grateful to everyone who supported my candidacy and I look forward to serving our local communities as Lake County’s newest Superior Court Judge,” concluded Markham.
